What this site is
adenovirus.ru is an independent reference about adenoviruses, originally in Russian, with an English edition. We have gathered in one place what Russian Ministry of Health clinical guidelines, the CDC, the WHO and the scientific classification of viruses say about adenovirus infection, and retold it in plain language.
Every fact on the site has a footnote pointing to its source, and all sources are collected in the registry. If a statement cannot be backed by an official document or a peer-reviewed study, it is not on the site.
Who makes it
The site is run by the adenovirus.ru editorial team. There are no doctors on the team, and no medical reviewer checks the content. That is why we give no advice of our own: we only retell documents, show where each fact comes from, and show on every page the date it was last checked against the sources.
Quotes from doctors on the site are taken from media publications and given word for word with a link; in the English edition they are translated from Russian. The doctors quoted are not affiliated with the editorial team and have not reviewed the site’s content.
How we use AI
The data for the site was collected from various sources with the help of artificial intelligence. AI finds clinical guidelines, documents from international organizations and scientific papers, picks out the facts and helps put them into plain language.
Checking is also done with AI, but separately from writing: every statement is compared against the text of the original source, and every quote word for word against the page where it was published. And every fact has a footnote, so you can check any of them yourself.
AI can make mistakes: it may retell a document inaccurately or miss an important caveat. That is why your help matters so much to us.
Found an error?
Send us the details at info@adenovirus.ru. Tell us the page, what exactly is wrong and, if you can, a link to a source. We will check the statement against the original source, correct the text and record the correction in the changelog.
Report an errorHow the project is funded
The project is independent. Running the site is partly covered by Google AdSense ads: the ads are selected by Google, the editorial team neither chooses nor approves them, and advertisers have no influence on the texts. There are no affiliate links on the site; we take no money from drug makers, clinics or laboratories, and we do not sell content placement. If you have declined cookies, ads are not loaded. Names of medicines and vaccines appear only when a source names them.
What you’ll find on the site
- Reference articles: symptoms in children and adults, related illnesses, treatment according to clinical guidelines, tests, how long it lasts, how contagious it is, prevention.
- Interactive tools: a 3D virion model, the “Deep dive” from a playground down to the virus, a comparison with flu and COVID-19, an illness timeline, a quiz.
- For teachers and writers: the virion model can be embedded on your website or in a presentation.
Can I use the materials?
Yes, with a link to adenovirus.ru. If you use a fact from one of our pages, it is best to also cite the original source from the footnote.
